3 New Releases to Be Thrilled About

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

There’s nothing I love more than seeing a new book coming out penned by an author I enjoy. Here are some that I’m super thrilled about right now…

The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

The Four Winds: A Novel by [Kristin Hannah]

Author: Kristin Hannah
Release Date: February 9, 2021
Pages: 464 (Hardcover)

(Summary pulled from Kristin’s website.)

Texas, 1934. Millions are out of work and a drought has broken the Great Plains. Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as the crops are failing, the water is drying up, and dust threatens to bury them all. One of the darkest periods of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl era, has arrived with a vengeance.

In this uncertain and dangerous time, Elsa Martinelli—like so many of her neighbors—must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, in search of a better life. The Four Winds is an indelible portrait of America and the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of one indomitable woman whose courage and sacrifice will come to define a generation.

Why I’m Thrilled

Kristin Hannah is my absolute favorite author and I’ve read nearly all of her novels. I was on Twitter when I first saw her new book was coming out. I squealed with delight and immediately hunted it down on Amazon. Her writing is so beautiful and doesn’t just bring the stories to life, but pulls the reader INTO the stories. The first novel of hers I’d ever read was Firefly Lane, a story about two best friends and their turbulent 30+ year friendship.

Hannah’s novels focus on women and their struggles with topics like divorce, death of a loved one, fertility issues, war, family issues, etc. Most take place in the Pacific Northwest but some of her newer ones take place elsewhere, such as The Nightingale which takes place in France during WWII, Winter Garden with many flashbacks to Russia, and her upcoming novel The Four Winds which takes place in Texas during the Dust Bowl era.

Love Your Life by Sophie Kinsella

Author: Sophie Kinsella
Release Date: October 27th, 2020
Pages: 432 (Hardcover)

(Summary pulled from Sophie’s website.)

Ava is sick of online dating. She’s always trusted her own instincts over an algorithm, anyway, and she wants a break from it all. So when she signs up to a semi-silent, anonymous writing retreat in glorious Italy, love is the last thing on her mind.

Until she meets a handsome stranger. . . All she knows is that he’s funny, he’s kind and – she soon learns – he’s great in bed. He’s equally smitten, and after a whirlwind, intoxicating affair, they pledge their love without even knowing each other’s real names.

But when they return home, reality hits. They’re both driven mad by each other’s weird quirks and annoying habits, from his eccentric, naked-sauna-loving family to her terribly behaved, shirt-shredding dog. As disaster follows disaster, it seems that while they love each other, they just can’t love each other’s lives. Can they overcome their differences to find one life, together?

Why I’m Thrilled

I’m going to be honest here. The only books of Sophie Kinsella’s that I’ve read are Confessions of a Shopaholic and My Not So Perfect Life (both of which I greatly enjoyed). BUT, I have at least five of the other Shopaholic books on my bookshelf, as well as some of her other stand-alone novels and I’m very excited to read them!

Kinsella’s writing is fun and her stories are light hearted. Life can be heavy sometimes and when it is, books like Love Your Life are there to entertain.

The Conjurer by Luanne G. Smith

The Conjurer (The Vine Witch Book 3) by [Luanne G. Smith]

Author: Luanne G. Smith
Release Date: January 12th, 2021

(Summary pulled from Amazon.)

Sidra didn’t murder her husband. Yet even a jinni can’t wish away a wrongful imprisonment. Determined to prove her innocence, she returns to her adopted home—a French village renowned for its perfume witches—with her friends Elena and Yvette by her side. Here is where Sidra’s true destiny awaits, but danger also lurks in the village’s narrow lanes.

On her trail is Jamra, another jinni, who’s after more than revenge for the murder of his brother. He also seeks vengeance for the indignities inflicted on jinn by mortals over the centuries. When he learns of an ancient relic capable of unleashing chaos on the world, and that the weapon is in the hands of his murderous sister-in-law, he vows to destroy Sidra to get it.

Relying on a sisterhood of magic, a mysteriously faithful dog, and a second-rate sorcerer, Sidra defends herself using the village’s greatest asset: its perfume. It’s as beguiling a lure as it is a formidable shield. But is it enough for Sidra to protect herself and those she loves from powers yet to be released?

Why I’m Thrilled

The Conjurer is the third and final book in The Vine Witch series. I’ve seen these books floating around from time to time and remember thinking how beautiful the covers were. I just finally started the first book, The Vine Witch, and so far I’m really loving it! Smith’s writing is very descriptive and magical. Currently on Goodreads this upcoming release has a 4.41 rating.

How about you? Any upcoming releases you can’t wait to get your hands on?
